Greek Chicken Burgers with Cucumber-Yogurt Sauce

  • 1 lb. lean ground chicken breast (or you can use ground turkey)

  • 3 oz. fat-free crumbled feta cheese

  • 4 larg olives minced

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 4 cloves of garlic

  • 1 egg

  • 1 1/4 cups fat-free greek-style yogurt

  • 1 medium cucumber peeled, seeded, and finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp fresh mint, minced or 1 tsp dried mint

  • juice of 1 lemon

  • 1/8 tsp white pepper

  1. In a large bowl combine chicken, feta, olives, oregano, black pepper, and 1 minced clove of garlic; blend well.

  2. In a small bowl gently beat egg with a whisk or fork; add to chicken mixture, blend thoroughly and set aside.

  3. In a medium bowl mix yogurt, cucumber, remaining garlic, mint, lemon juice, salt and white pepper; stir to blend; refrigerate.

  4. Coat grill with non-stick cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat. Form chicken mixture into 4 burgers; place on grill pan; grill 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and firm in center.

  5. Remove burgers to platter and place on top of mint leaves or lettuce. Top each burger with 2 tablespoons of cucumber-yogert.

  6. I got this recipe from a heart workshop. they demonstrated this recipe and it was delicious.

Sounds yummy!! I am having this for dinner tonight for my friends. It has a bit too much sodium for me to eat it though. Maybe i will leave the olives out of mine.

I got this recipe at a Healty Heart workshop. I thought it was delicious and a good alternative to normal burgers. It may not be the healthiest in all categories however so sorry for that.

My husbands nutrtionist specifically mentioned NOT eating natural cheeses such as feta. This is not a heart healthy recipe.

It sounds tasty; however, the sodium content is awfully high to truly be considered heart healthy!

This really does sound like it will be tasty. I love greek salads and feta cheese so I am sure I will like this. I will try this soon!
