Beef Rouladen

  • 4 pieces Lean Beef round sliced 1/8 inch thick (4 to 6 ounces)- lay flat add spicy mustard to spread on beef

  • chopped onions to lay on top before rolling

  • bacon bits (non-meat) and Worcestershire sauce or Maggi seasoning-

  • Optional a slice of hickory smoked bacon instead of bacon bits.

  • Bay leaf - salt and pepper to taste

  1. Roll beef up with ingredients inside

  2. Fasten with a toothpick

  3. Brown in a saute pan on all sides of the rolled up beef

  4. add 2 cups water, 1 bay leaf and 1/4 cup red wine

  5. simmer for 1 1/2 hours until beef is tender

  6. Thicken with a whitewash of 2 TBSP flour and 1/4 cup red wine

  7. serve over 1/2 c noodles
