Ventricular Assist Devices

A ventricular assist device helps pump blood from the lower chambers of your heart to the rest of your body. This type of device is usually for those who have weakened hearts as a result of advanced heart disease. There are three different types of ventricular assist devices: one for the right ventricular (RVAD), one for the left ventricular (LVAD), and one that assists both sides (BIVAD).
