Amlodipine is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Amlodipine is called a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.

Overall: I take it,but i stopped because of leg pain.

Overall: Dizziness was a real problem for me with this drug. After 2 falls and 3 cracked ribs and 2 fingers I'm finally off of it.

Overall: I have been taking Norvasc with Coreg and Captopril and I think they finally got me on the meds that will take my blood pressure down.

Pros: In angina it increases blood flow to the heart muscle.

Cons: Dizziness, lightheadedness, swelling ankles/feet, flushing, or headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
