We all know that stroke and heart disease risks run on a parallel track so it makes sense to take heed of practices that reduce stroke risk. Here is an easy one that many of us may already do - drink coffee.

A new study shows that moderate coffee drinkers enjoy a lower stroke risk than light or non-drinkers.

I have a total of 3 cups per day. 2 cups in the morning, and 1 cup with the evening meal. Otherwise I drink water, or sparkling water, throughout the day.

I have been drinking coffee since I was a kid. My favorite memories are of going to dinner with my parents and ordering coffee after dinner than watching the shock on the faces of waitresses, lol. I still like it but only drink a lot when I have breakfast at a restaurant. Otherwise it is one (or none) cups per day - ALWAYS decaf (life is already too exciting even without the caffeine).

When I was a kid, I drank tea, that was a biggie in our home. You had a cup of tea with a slice of homade rye bread. (and you dunked your bread in the tea.)

I just cut back on my caffeine to reduce my weight. Coffee gives me heartburn so I avoid it as much as possible. Who wants to be so wired by caffeine that they can't sit still. LOL!!

I am wondering if there is a distinction between regular and decaf coffee. I have quit drinking coffee completely since my heart episodes, simply can't stand the caffeine. I would think there might be more effective ways to reduce stroke risk, like more exercise, etc.

Definitely there are numerous ways to reduce stroke risk. Coffee is just one more. Yes, decaf is just as effective.
