Ill be going in for number three within the next three months. Last two were to repair and replace my aorta valve, this one is to fix or replace my mirtal valve. first was november of 2010, second was december of 11, and now this will be 2012. All within 18 months. After the first two i actually started loosing my hair. and it wouldnt grow, im not sure if its due to the medicines or not. This time im thinking it may be harder to go through. The dr. told me my heart is very fragile basicly. Has anyone had more then one surgery in a short time period?

My hair is very thin on top too…after I had my heart attack I noticed it was getting very thin on top so now I wear a wig. But I think my hair loss is from my meds.

Well my three year old had her first surgery when she was three days old, then her second surgery when she was 6 months old and now eitther April or May she will be having her third open heart surgery. I don't know if loosing your hair is due to the medication I have not seeing this happening to my daugther. We will see how she does with her next surgery, because she is a little older than she was when she got those other two done. The only thing that it is happening to her rigth now is that she is very tempermental. She gets upset very easily. Cardiologist said it is understandable when she does not feel well specially if she has trouble breathing.
Hope everything turns out OK for you. I will be praying for you. Keep strong it is hard but it is the only way to keep going.

I still have not heard from Children's Hospital with a date for my daughters surgery either. I hate waiting. I would like to know so that I can arrange my work scheduled and get things ready at home also. The hospital is about two and half hours drive and we will be staying over. I hope they call me and let me know soon.

i know i hate that too. last surgery it was an emergency so i went to the e.r then two days later they transfered me to ny for the surgery. wonderful surprise. once it gets done shell be better though. so its worth the wait. for the most part.

Yup, that would do it. What did they do to stabilize you? Were you discharged or did you stay for a number of days?
