Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) is now off-patent and will be available as a lower-cost generic in the near future. Pfizer, the patent holder for Lipitor, has vowed to lower their price to fight the generic providers. You can read n=more about it here

Regardless of whther you buy the equally effective generic form or continue to buy the brand name product make certain you are paying the lower price! Ask your doctor or pharmacist about it.

Te Ja,

Staitins work by blocking Hmg CoA reductase which is necessary to produce mevalonate the building block for cholesterol. It is now widely understood that Hmg CoA reductase is necessary for the production of CoQ10 which is needed for all muscle tissue. Block Hmg CoA reductase and you block CoQ10.

If you take a statin then CoQ10 supplementation may be necessary to reduce or eliminate muscle pain. Seems strange that your doc would not know this!

My dr only increased the dosage of my muscle relexer. That when my pharmacist questioned the generic brand and he called my dr. When I went to pick-up the muscle relaxer my pharmacist informed me of what had transpired.
