I usually run 90/68 without any symptoms. Yesterday i felt bad and light headed. After taking my bp I realized it was running in around 70/54. I worry so this scares me. Supposedly my ef is doing good. I do have a pacemaker/defibrillator. This is new to me does anyone have good info? Or experience?

arkansas,

Yeah, my BP normally runs around that same number. Definitely call your doc as that is kinda low. I have been as low as 80/40 but only when sick but there are many things that can cause low BP and only your doc can say for certain whether is a cause for concern or additional treatment.

I'm sorry, I don't. However, does your cardiologist have a good nurse who fields his patient phone calls that you could speak with regarding this? If so I would most certainly call your cardiologist's office and discuss this w/him/her or his/her staff.

I don't know what significance, if any, your pulse pressure would have on your situation but your pulse pressure according to what you say is your usual BP is usually 22 and when you were feeling bad and light headed your pulse pressure was 16.

The "ideal" pulse pressure for someone w/"ideal" (120/80) blood pressure is 40. The significance of pulse pressure varies w/age and is only recently being recognized as a further indicator of cardiac condition.

I would think that anyone w/a pacemaker/defibrillator who experiences light headedness and feels not well should at least notify their cardiologist of the situation.
