I have been taking simvastatin 40 mg for years. The doctor prescribed it along with my diabetic meds as he said I couldn't mee the cholesterol goals without it after they lowered the goal to 150 from 200. I have never had problems and certainly have what the doctors say are good numbers with a total of 137, HDL 47, LDL 54, and triglycerides at 85.

Bob,

Those are pretty good numbers. Sounds like a little niacin might help too (ask doc) with raising HDL and lowering TGs a little. Can't complain about the LDL - it's outstanding! Not everyone is going to have a problem with simvastatin so if you have no bad symptoms you are likely in good shape.
