i am new here , but i have a problem i would like to ask about. I just found out over the weekend that I am having problems with my heart & blood pressure. They both keep going down, the more my blood sugar goes up. My doc wants me to use a halter monitor for a while, but I have never had to use one before. They tried to do a stress test through IV , but my heart could not take it. I have been through a lot in the last 2 months. My brother-in-law is in the hospital and has been since 6-26-2011, when someone threw a moltov cocktail through his & my sister's bedroom window. Totally distroying the house and hitting him in the face, burning him over 40% of his body. He has been through surgery 3 times already & still needs to go through more of them to help him heal. I don't know how much more I can take with my heart the way it is. I have had problems with my heart for the last 5 almost 6 years now and was never put on a holter monitor. If anyone can give me some advice, I would greatly appretiate it a lot. I don't think my sister could handle losing me at this point in time.

Take it easy, even though u have family , I am sorry for what happened to them. U NEED to take care of UR SELF right now. Keep thinking positively and thing will get better. U and Only U need to take care of ur self. A halter monitor will not hurt yes it's really un confartible but it will let ur DR. See what's wrong with ur heart and maybe they can fix it

chetsgirl:

I have had multiple Holter Monitor tests and even exercize while wearing them. About the only thing you cannot do is take a shower. They provide crucial information about heart rhythym that you really cannot get any other way.

All you do is go to your doc's office to get hooked up. They hook you up just like doing a stress test and you where a monitor (or put it in your pocket) that is smaller than a pack of cigarettes (if you get the newer ones). After the presecribed amount of time (usuallly a day or sometimes longer) you return to have them take it off.

Please let us know more about yout heart condition(s) so we may be more specific. What was the daignosis you received from your doc?

i was diagnosed with prinzmetal angina almost 6 years ago. the doctors think i may need a pacemaker within the next year. my knees & heart can not handle a treadmill stress test and now my heart can not handle a stress trst by iv right now. that is why they have put me on a halter monitor.i was placed on the halter monitor today and have to have it placed back on because some of the leads came off so i have to go back tomorrow and have it placed back on. i will find out within the next couple days whether or not if i have to go through surgery for a pacemaker. i will keep everyone informed of what is going on. the doctor thinks that a lot of it has to do with all the stress that i have been going through in the last 2 months. we have had our house firebombed and my sister's husband is still in the hospital due to getting hit in the face with the moltov cocktail on 6-26-2011. along with other shit that my family has been through since the fire that total distroyed our house where we lost everything.

chetsgirl,

Prinzmetal's angina is caused by vasospasms that temporarily constrict the artery rather than arterial narrowing and stress can indeed induce it. Your doc may prescribe nitrates for episodic pain as they work to relax the arteries.

Let us know how the Holter Monitor goes!

Hi chetsgirl. I'm new here also. I was diagnosed with 2nd degree heart block with some 3rd degree, a heart murmur, and mitral valve prolapse about 4 years ago. I am 24 years old now. I've gone through NUMEROUS tredmill stress tests and cardiologists until I found one that took my problems seriously. I wasn't offered a Holter Monitor until a year ago and I would highly suggest doing it. It is a bit annoying to have to wear…I think I wore mine for 2 weeks? But, it is extremely helpful. My cardiologist actually said that he'd never seen so many signals sent from anyone on a Holter before! He actually showed me a GIANT stack of papers that equaled just 1 week of my monitoring. After that, I was sent to have Echocardio Catheter Ablation surgery. I'm a couple years away from having a pacemaker implanted. Just trying to see how long I can go without one. Sorry for rambling! I'm not sure if the doctor you mentioned above is your primary care doc or a cardiologist. Either way, I would go see a cardiologist asap, and tell him/her everything. All of the heart problems you've experienced and especially all of the stress you're under. If you EVER need to talk or have any questions, please private message me. I'd love to see how everything turns out for you.

Stay strong,
Ashley

I don't know what to do, but to PRAY to GOD above and leave it all in GOD'S hands.

I've an aortic valve replacement. before now never had any issue with my heart . i was so very very sick that even my mother confessed to me recently that while she came to the hospital at NY 2 see me, she could not recognize me. this after 2month already there.me too noticed that even my breast looks dried. but today am recovering, why complete trust in God words. He said in Ezekiel 37:2-10, dry bones shall live again. even for you and your bro in law, dear. believe in Him Jesus Christ and His Power. You shall live and not die. fellow ur doctor instructions, take ur drugs, and make friends, here and at home. just be happy don't allow depression, worries, anxiety to set in. it kills faster than disease. take heart, dear, it shall be well. bye…
