High Fiber/Low Fat Diet

I eat a high fiber/ low fat diet because I find it easy 2 follow and never get bored. 1 thing is though you need to drink plenty of water to aid in elimination. You can eat anything as long as you portion control the bad stuff. It really works for me.

How carbs do you eat per day and what type? Are you avoiding sugars and wheat?

I eat lotsa whole wheat products. I avoid processed sugars but eat lotsa fruits and veggies with natural sugars. I don't know anything about carbs and don't care to as what I am doing works for me.

DSM,

It is always best to consult with your doc and do what works best for you. The major thing to watch for with carbs is diabetes and pre-diabetes. High carb diets can raise blood sugar and lead to developing these conditions. Just remember, whole wheat is still wheat. But, if your post-prandial (after eating) blood sugars are fine you are probably tolerating it well. Just be certain to keep an eye on it from time to time!

I have discussed this with my doc and he was happy I found something that finally worked for me. I realize this method is not for everyone but it works ever so good for me.

You cannot argue with success! Medicine can be a hit and miss prospect. When you finds something that works stick with it. Keep up the good work!

you sound like me it keeps you healthy and keeps you full longer to.exellent choice.portion control is always a good idea. eating healthy makes you feel good about your self.i always like to eat a salad with my lunch and dinner meal.i usally eat good carb veggies with my snacks. wholewheat bread,buns,wraps are usally high in fiber. have you ever tried sandwich thin buns or bagels thins they are high in fiber.i can tell you another item high fiber i like is strawberries,blueberries,blackberries,raspberries yummys.wholewheat noodles are high fiber too.i eat wholewheat stuff instead of white stuff.thats stuff is consired refined sugars that are goodforyour cholesteral numbers. the way to go is wholewheat 80% white refined sugar products20%.this i was told by my nutrionist.you got your head on straight about eating healthy.you should be proud of yourself. i feel that way about myself.a person needs to do whats best for themself and makes them feel good about there self. i always say it doesn't matter if other people think your strange the way you eat cause trying to tell them what's good for them most of time you might as well be talking to yourself. i feel this way so don't feel bad if you ever feel this way.

I like multigrain type bread and try to have beans in my diet at least a few times a week. I enjoy eating fruit in the whole form as most fruit juice has no fiber at all other than prune, plum smart, and tomato or vegetable but the latter 2 are so high in sodium even in the low sodium types that I never have them. I often eat salads as a meal by adding fish, meat beans or nuts to add the protean to the salad.
