There are different types of PVD, its important to get the right diagnosis of your particular problem. Your Dr. will be able to diagnose your problem by your medical history, an exam and an MRI, ultrasound and /or x-rays.Ther is a test for PAD called the "Ankle Brachial Index." It consists of taking your bp at your ankle and in your arm when you are at rest. Your bp in your ankle is divided by the bp number in your arm. The bp at your ankle should be equal to or greater than the bp in your arm. 0.9 to 1.3 is normal 0.41 to 0.9 may have mild or moderate PAD 0.4 or below have severe PAD.
