Like many of you I had many test. The finding were the right side of my heart is enlarge and I have a irregular heart beat. My regular Doctor sent me a Cardiologist to have an exercise echocardiogram. At the end of the test the Cardiologist stated he would be recommending that I have a pace maker. When I went back to my regular Doctor he said he wants wait until I start passing out before he does anything.
I am really scared. I am not saying I want a pace maker or any surgery. Have any one ever been told anything like this?

I would def get another opinion, not to sound mean but that doc is nuts.wonder if he would say that if it was his wife or family member..my mom has heart disease so when i started getting symptoms i told my doc what was going on and he said oh its prob your depression and all the stress.I didnt like that answer so i made app with a cardioligist and go figure i have microvascular disease(my small arteris are NOT getting enuf blood and oxygen) were not sure how bad yet s more test, eco and stress and who knows what will happen.so hun u go by what u feel doctors all have own fields and sounds like yours def isnt best 1 for you to goto about ur heart..hope all works out for u

Te Ja,

Believe it or not, it is common for some docs to advise that you wait until passing out (syncope in medical jargon) becomes a problem. I recently encountered this when taking an online CME seminar (no, I 'm not a doc but anyone can earn Continuing Medical Education credits).

I agree with all the other comments. You should control your health. I would seek a second opnion!

I will get a second opinion, by any chance did they state way they prefer to wait until a person passes out. For that is my fear I pass out and do not wake up. Thank for responding. Teresa

Please talk with your Dr again. My father-In-Law kept passing out in various places, the last time he fell in walgreen and hit his head really bad, He needed a pacemaker. In church he was helping to serve the peoples and fell dead right their. You cant be passing out, everywhere, that is dangerous. When I received my pacemaker I had went to the emergency room for a severe asthma attack, and was scheduled to go home the next morning. That is when I found out that my heart kept stopping even in the emergency room. I had to have a pacemaker right then and their. I was told if I would have went home. I would have died. It not easy. but it help me when my heart stat slowing down, it keep it on track. Get more info. You'll be in my prayer. Hang on in there!

well passing out is not good.. (not waking up is worse) I have a enlarged heart with a hole in it..which has caused all sorts of other problems but surgery is not an option for me (pressure too high) - YET. But low O2 heart attacks were BIG ways of getting my attention! Not fun waking up blue in CICU!

If a doctor advised me to continue passing out… I'd ask another doctor.

My husband is fond of saying "not everyone graduates at the top of the class" regardless of how much we like or dislike the doctor, sometimes a second opinion is warranted!

Good Luck!
