I recently started a discussion about how some afib experiences may not be afib. One study suggests less than half may be real afib. Here is the article

http://www.heartconnect.com/news-articles/194...

So the question is, "What does afib feel like when it happens to you?" I know it may be hard to describe but try. I am certain everyone could learn a lot and it would be VERY interesting to compare notes!

I am glad to see this sight! Once in awhile I thought I felt a flutter in my chest thinking it was to much caffine. I have afib and would like to hear how others feel. I sometimes wonder what is normal. On Ausust 16, 2010 about 11:30pm while watching TV my heart started jiggling like bowl of jelly. I realized I could be in trouble, my heart rate was 170. The ER did get it slowed down and transported me to North Kansas Ciity Hospital for a catherization. I had a 95% blockage in my left Aorta artery and a 50% blockage a stent was put in. I had been very tired, short winded and just not feeling right. Thanks for sharing.

Mary:

Thanks for the great input! Did your doc give you a speciific diagnosis and what is the treatment strategy? Afib comes in so many varieties. Half the battle is figuring out what the specific cause is.

No specific diagnosis that I can remember. The Doctor say it could be controlled by medication. I take Sotalol HCL 80MG Tabs twice a day.

I had afib about 8 months ago. I never noticed my heart rate even though it was 166 upon admission. I only knew I was very tired and it was all I could do to walk from my car to my front door. I am sure it is different for everyone but that is how it felt for me.

This site is new to me. It is very informative. My afib symptoms began with a general feeling of tiredness, dizziness with the feeling of my heart doing flip-flops or summer-salts. If I sit for a while, it usually passes. I look forward to doing more reading hear.
Thank you!

When My atrial Fibrillation occurs, I have a rapid heartbeat , and heart palpatations (feels like my heart is coming through my chest), I normally have an irregular pulse. Sometimes I will feel light headed and dizzy.

I found a great site for all afib people it is : http://www.afibbers.org/faq.htm

They have information at the end of their article for more information for people with afib.
