I will be on a cruise in another week and there have also been questions in our community about car and plane travel with heart disease as well.

I had the opportunity to interview a ship's doctor a year ago. What have you been told? Let's attempt to get to the facts as well as debunk any myths! Ever have a problem while traveling? What is your story?

P.S. Just posted an in-depth article about driving with heart disease at

I've traveled a lot since my heart attack. The longest was a drive from PA to Hilton Head, SC. I drove 8 hrs on the firs day and 7 hrs on the second day. I always check with my drs. before doing any long traveling. He says as long as I keep up with my meds. there should be no problem. Most of the traveling I do is driving and I enjoy driving and seeing the sites. As long as I watch myself I have not had any problems.

Thanks for the input! Yes, travel can be simple as long as you follow common sense routines.
