well first off have a good relationship with your pharmacist, especially if your meds are coming from multiple doctors! My pharmacist hands me a stack of printouts and goes over them with me, discussion possible drug interactions!

Like ca0371 I keep a document in my purse detailing doctors, meds/dose info and it's much easier at the doctors office but also potentially life saving in an emergency. I carry one for my Mother and husband also and htey have copies of mine. Better safe than sorry!

There are websites like WebMD where you can look up individual drugs and research interactions also.

Good luck!

MW,

Not to mention it's nice to have when you visit both old and new docs and they want to update your meds list! Much easier to simply hand them a copy, lol!

I take 21 pills a day, 16 different rx's. I have all of them listed by day part, dosage & whole/half pill. I keep that list in my wallet (much easier at the Dr. office!), in my large box of pill bottles & with my weekly daypart med. holder. It is so much easier to take a sleeve w/ all my pills w/me when I go out. Every couple of days I fill up my dispenser. My husband also has a list of my pills in his wallet - just in case…

mona,

Can you share what you take? There are many of us who probably take the same things (though perhaps not all 18). I will certainly be happy to share what I do as I take about a dozens things. I try to break them up in logical groups throughout the day.

Hi, I set my medcines by how they react.
I have discussed how to take each medicine with each doctor that I see. I see 7 different doctors for various ills.

Each has given me any where from one pill to 3 pills. So I also, take quite a few pills in a day.

When the drug is given to me by that doctor I ask, what is this drug for?, I take
XYZ drug, will this interfere with this? And I ask, What time during the day should I take this drug? Should I take this drug with food? or Water? Empty stomach?

If I forget, to ask questions at the doctors office, I will ask questions at the phamacy where I have my drugs dispensed, by the pharmacist.

I hope this answers your question.

I have a computer list that I go by and I also use one of those weekly dosage containers. This helps me make sure I'm taking the right ones at the right time.
