We have many community members challenged by atrial fibrillation who may be treating it with dronedarone. The FDA has just issued an alert which I posted as a news article but also thought I would post here to start a discussion and provide an addition alert. Anyone taking Multaq (brand name)? Here is the FDA alert.

I am and I am worried about the whole liver failure alert as well. I have been taking Multaq since the end of December with fairly decent results as far as keeping my heart rate "normal", however, three days ago while on a walk I was getting intense upper abdoiminal pains. Yesterday I went to the local urgent care because I couldn't get into my primary dr and the pains were getting worse. I am still in pain, and now have an appt today with my primary, but the Urgent care dr is baffled and said I wouldn't be having pains if it was liver failure, that only a blood test would say if i had liver failure or not.

I am currently taking sotalol which is no longer working to control the a fib, but it does keep my heart rate lower than it would be. I took amiodarone for about 6 weeks and then went off of it because of the side effects. Am considering a pacemaker since nothing else seems to be working.
