My son is 16 months old and had coarctation of the aorta. 16 days old they discovered it and 17 days old he was in surgery. When they opened him up they found him in congestive heart failure and he developed a blood clot in his right leg from the surgery, again this is all at 17 days old. He was on Lovonox for a little more than 6 months and he still has a residual left of the blood clot. They said it casted and no longer was causing blockage to blood flow in his leg, so we opted not to have surgery on his leg. I will tell u now at 16 months old, he's healthier than any normal kid that's never been through a medical thing in they're life. He's off all his meds and has so much energy. I said all this to encourage u about ur granddaughter. Kids r very resiliant :)
